On this date in 1803, Lewis and Clark held the historic “first council” meeting with the Otoe and Missouria tribes. The favorable meeting set the tone for the rest of their travels, and put this area on the map.

In honor of this meeting, we are offering free admission to the museum all day (9-5), with free watermelon served from 12-1:30.
