Hugh and Jane Hunt Vintage Radio Gallery to Celebrate Grand Opening April 10

FORT CALHOUN, Neb. – The Washington County Museum will celebrate the grand opening of the Hugh and Jane Hunt Vintage Radio Gallery on Friday, April 10, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and public open house.

The new gallery highlights the fascinating history of early radio and its role in shaping American culture. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of vintage radios, learn about the evolution of radio technology, and explore how radio connected families and communities long before the age of television and the internet.

The exhibit is made possible through the generosity and support of Hugh and Jane Hunt, whose passion for preserving the history of radio helped bring this unique collection and gallery space to life.

“We are thrilled to share this new exhibit with our community,” said Pam Eby, Washington County Museum’s Executive Director. “Vintage radios are not only beautiful pieces of craftsmanship, but they also represent a time when families gathered together to listen to music, news, and stories that connected the nation.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 10th, and will include remarks from museum leadership and community partners. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new gallery, learn about the collection, and celebrate the opening with museum staff and supporters.

The Hugh and Jane Hunt Vintage Radio Gallery is a part of the museum’s ongoing effort of “Guiding You Through Washington County’s Past, Present, and Future!”

The public is warmly invited to attend the grand opening celebration. Through multiple generous donations, the museum will be open free to the public during the grand opening weekend so visitors can explore the new gallery and other exhibits.
